Q: Speech garbled, seems to be reading insanely fast
A: This fast gibberish being spoken is an issue that can happen when your phone updates to a new version of iOS. Voices that you previously had installed are not correctly reinstalled when the operating system updates and you need to re-download them.
The best way to fix this is:
1. Look under System Settings > Spoken Content > Voices
2. Choose voices you like by tapping the play icon to hear it and then the cloud icon to download it. Get the enhanced or premium ones as they are better quality.
3. Go into Speaking Email > Preferences > Speech Speed, Voices & Languages
4. Under both Announcer and English (and any other languages), choose the voices that you have downloaded
For a quicker fix, you can try just selecting a different voice in Speaking Email Preferences.
