Q: Why can't I sign in with my old hotmail account?
If your hotmail account is too old, it will not support the newer Microsoft authentication and mail APIs.

We have found this to be an issue with old hotmail accounts trying to connect to Microsoft's newer mail system API. The workaround for this is to use their old (2010) login system and old (1990s) protocol ActiveSync. Luckily Speaking Email has built in support for this old protocol.
To try connecting your hotmail account using ActiveSync, go to "add account", then click "manual setup" and choose "M365 via ActiveSync".
